I’m here to break it down, to show you where to start and what really matters in the beginning.

The Human Design experiment can feel intense, especially when we don’t know where to begin. There’s so much depth, so many layers, that it’s easy to get lost in theory and forget about the actual living of it.

In this article, I’ll break down what I call “the Big 3” of Human Design:

  • Your Energy Type

  • Your Strategy

  • Your Authority

These are the three things to focus on when you start.
Only after you truly understand and embody them does it make sense to explore the more nuanced aspects like centers, channels, and gates.

Because here’s the truth:
You experience your centers, channels, and gates through your type, strategy, and authority. These three are the foundation. And if that foundation isn’t strong, the rest can become a distraction or even spiritual bypassing.

What does it mean to “experiment” with Human Design?

Many people stay in the theory of Human Design. But theory alone won’t change anything.

The real transformation happens through experimentation in your body, not your mind.

You need to feel the shifts. To become aware of how your energy moves. This takes time, yes – but without it, you’re not actually doing the work.

If you’re overwhelmed, even though you’ve “gone deep” into Human Design knowledge, it’s probably time to come back to the basics.

Let me ask you:

  • Are you really doing the hard work?

  • Are you setting those boundaries for yourself and for others?

  • Are you protecting your energy like your life depends on it?

  • Do you truly know how your energy feels?

If your answer to any of these isn’t a full “yes,” then you likely haven’t yet fully integrated your energy type or are not consistently using your strategy and authority.

After working with many clients, I see two common patterns:

1. You still need time to understand your energy and connect to your body.

In this case, your work is to listen. Build a relationship with your body. Start small and stay consistent.

Try this:

  • Reflect on situations that made you feel bitter, angry, frustrated, or disappointed.

  • What was the trigger?

  • Ask: Does this give me energy or cost me energy?

Don’t overcomplicate. Keep it simple. Come back to your senses, to your breath, to what your body is telling you.

Journaling is a powerful tool here. Write about your sensations, your decisions, your experiences.

2. You understand your design, but you’re blocked when it comes to embodying it.

This is where most people get stuck. Because understanding is one thing. Living it is another.

Often, what blocks embodiment is fear. Fear of setting boundaries, of being rejected, of losing people. This is where the real deconditioning begins.

It takes courage to practice your strategy. To say “no” when your body clearly says no. To stop over-explaining. To stop trying to prove yourself.

But this is the experiment. And here’s the truth:

It’s only hard at the beginning.

The more you act in alignment with your strategy and authority, the easier it becomes. The more natural it feels. And the more life starts to respond to your true self.

You’ll also notice something beautiful: People start to appreciate your clarity.

It surprised me too, when people said, “Thanks for your honesty” or “I really value your clarity.”
When you show up authentically, you give others permission to do the same.


So what are you truly afraid of?

  • Losing people who were never meant for you?

  • Being rejected by those who never really saw you?

  • Or are you afraid of being truly seen?

Because that’s what alignment demands:
Being seen in your truth.

If you’re still hiding parts of yourself to keep the peace, then you’re not ready for full alignment – and that’s okay. It’s a process of shedding. Of unbecoming. Of letting go of the masks you built for safety.

But don’t blame Human Design for not “working.”
Maybe you’re just not ready to meet your own truth yet.

That’s not a failure. But it is your work and I’m not here to sugarcoat it for you.


The mind keeps you stuck. The body shows the way.

Human Design is all about moving out of the mind and into the body.

Your mind is not meant to make decisions. That’s the role of your authority.

Let me explain why.

Your mind is a brilliant tool. It compares, analyzes, and organizes. But it can only use past experiences. It has no access to the future.

So when you rely on your mind to make decisions, you’re choosing from your past. And you keep repeating those past experiences.

But your body knows. It communicates with you in real-time. It’s not logical. It doesn’t need to make sense to anyone else.

And honestly, don’t you often feel something is wrong before you can explain why?

That’s your body speaking.


Tips for your experiment:

  • Start journaling. Ask yourself:

    • How does this feel in my body?

    • Did this decision give me energy or drain me?

    • What happened when I followed my strategy?

    • What happened when I didn’t?

    • Which decisions do I regret and why?
